Colorado Springs Wedding Photographer - Jordan and Travis and a sweet engagement

Okay, I'm just going to say this once...well, I might mention it a lot later but Jordan and Travis...you guys are gorgeous. Yes, I said this. ;p I absolutely loved this session. Because we chose two different locations...one downtown Colorado Springs and another on the foothills of Garden of the Gods. Completely opposite, different textures and both places I love to shoot at. Its interesting...Jordan chose the city and Travis the views of the mountains...but both of them complimented and meshed well with the others choice. Laughing and going a long with whatever was happening at the moment. I don't think I've met a more laid back couple. And Jordan, you rocked that strapless dress AND it was probably about 40 degrees downtown with NO sun. Lets just say you are really good at pretending we were in a very warm place. And on a side note...your shoes...are fabulous. Yes, I have a thing for beautiful shoes. June 30th could not get her fast enough...so looking forward to your wedding! I know it will be the perfect combination of both of you...

Creative and curious...and a head full of gorgeous brown curls. Not to mention her baby blue eyes...Adelaide is simply stunning. But then so are her parents. :) Adelaide is one of my kiddo's playmates. And her Mom just so happens to be a yoga instructor and I may at times learn a thing or two from this sweet woman. :)

Hannah, or Hannah banana...LOVE her. Love her big blue eyes...the sweet intelligence that is so evident in how she communicates. Yes, I speak baby. ;p But seriously, I loved this session. Hannah is such a happy laid back girl. And so curious...she can move around SO fast. Leslie and I had to keep her occupied at all times before she would try and escape.

One of my favorite things about capturing newborns is that I usually get to watch them grow. Yes, sweet Hannah, I've been photographing her since she was just a week old! Such a privilege to be part of her life. Enjoy a few of our pics from that morning!

Sweet Eliza. She is one loved girl. Yes, one of the highlights to her session was Camille (her mom) and Eliza dancing to some country song that was playing...and I might have joined in the madness. ;p We were trying to get a big smile out of her. And we did. :) But Eliza's favorite thing was to play games with her Mom. So adorable and fun to watch gorgeous Camille play with her baby girl. I love this family...I do. I've been photographing them before sweet Eliza was born and its so fun for me to watch Eliza change and become even MORE beautiful than when she was as a newborn. Hard to do. Bittersweet, yes, this was a bittersweet session...found out this family will be moving in the near future. Um, I travel to Germany. ;p Hint hint.

Shooting indoors when its cold outside...makes me smile. Yes, I enjoy it. It only took my hubby putting in beautiful wood floors. All though he had no idea I would benefit from them for my business. Last week, I was able to capture Hayley and Piper in my home...and I enjoyed every minute of it. Hayley and Piper are my adopted nieces. Yes, their mom is one of my absolute closest friends. And because of that, but not the only reason...her sweet babies are my family. I love watching Hayley talk about princesses or playing with my kids...or asking Hudson to marry him. Um, yes, I'm proud to say that this time Hayley asked Hudson. Oh the stories we will have should it ever come true. ;p No pressure. Ha.

And then sweet Piper and her big blue eyes...I may have had to work a bit harder with her. But I am SO happy to say that the sweet smiles I captured...truly melted my heart because of it. I think that's why I love children's photography...you don't just show up and kids start smiling for you...nope...rarely is it that easy for me. You completely have to be a fool...and I have no shame. I think I need to have a video camera on me at some point ...so I can later laugh at myself. ;p What I loved about Piper...is her complete adoration for Kris. Yes, she was proud to show her mom her tricks and Kris could make her laugh and smile...LOVE. Its so obvious in Piper's expressions with her.

Okay...Jordan. How do I describe such a full of life, mischievous, energetic, intelligent, adorable, sweet child? Yes, how do I fully explain how much is packed into who Jordan is. He is simply amazing to me. Sweet and precious because of his relationship to me...he the son of one of my best friends. Jordan, is a close friend with my daughter as well. To watch him grow, to watch him laugh, tell jokes and become part of the man he will be someday...its exciting and an honor to be part of. Every few days Sarah will update her status on facebook with some funny comment that Jo makes...here are a few examples,

"Jordan wasn't happy when I told him I wouldn't ever buy him light up shoes. He said "well that's fine, I'll jut buy men light up shoes when I'm older!" haha! Good luck with the ladies kid."

or, "Yesterday, I woke up to Jordan in my room lifting weights, then doing some sit ups and push ups. I asked him what he was doing and he said "this is exercising Mom, do you know what that is?" Ouch. The worst part is, he wasn't being sassy, he really was going to explain it to me"

Colorado Springs Family Photographer - A reunion in the making...

So this sweet family has not been ALL together in 3 years. Yes, two of the guys, Chad or Zak, were off fighting for our country. Amazing and I SO thank you for that as small as saying that is.

This year, they were all home and able to enjoy some sweet time with their family. Katrina, someone I've enjoyed getting to know and photograph over the last couple of years called me up and asked if I could photograph all of them together. Of course! What I didn't expect was that everyone of them would be outgoing, sarcastic (in a good way), and totally at ease in front of the camera. Its always interesting for me to see how a family interacts...not sure why, but I always compare families to mine. Weird I know...but the connection and the teasing...its obvious that this family was built on love and laughter...cheesy to say? Maybe, but its true. And of course, its pretty easy to photograph a family that looks like they walked off of an Abercrombie and Fitch ad... just sayin. ;p

Colorado Springs Family Photographer - A sweet mountain cabin getaway.

Okay, so this was AWESOME. I drove about 2 hours to this families sweet cabin that Mike had built for his family (he's in financing and did this on the side...how cool is that?!). Gorgeous views right from the deck and the drive way view...took my breath away...that will be the first shot I post so you can see it. Not only is the cabin a traditional getaway at Christmas time for this family but a sweet retreat for Cathy and Mike. Taking time out of their busy life to just breathe and enjoy what God has blessed them with. I must admit to falling in love with this sweet family. The laughter, jokes, teasing...non stop, made me laugh and so want to call up my sweet family after this session. This was special for me...not sure why other then the fact that each one of the family members...quality peeps. Yes, sweet and sincere. And I just need to say, Kelly, you are all sorts of crazy gorgeous. ;p

He actually threw the snowball at her...I don't think I've laughed that hard in a while...it was awesome.

Studio 2012

So, I just got another new backdrop...antique tin. Yes, I'm in love with it. But, this year, I'm offering studio dates...the first one will be January 14th...which is all booked. But I will be doing another Valentine Mini Children's studio set up on February 4th. Should you be interested please contact me at elizabethweitz@yahoo.com.

So why studio...well, there is one major reason. Its cold...yes, I'm beginning to think I'm a slight wimp with the Colorado cold weather. And I was looking for ways to shoot indoors...especially with kids...they don't LOVE the cold either. Happy kids make happy photos is what I always say. Why not be inside? And I also like the simplicity to it. The ability to use props or just the clean lines where the focus is completely on the child.

Thoughts about strengths and weaknesses today. And of course the motivation to start the year on a good note...a day that is usually filled with resolutions. Its a good day...and a tough day. Because you often have to stare at your short comings and realize you have so far to go....so the desire to be better, to work harder, love more sweetly and live more fully hits me pretty hard January 1st. Every year...with out fail.

So, every year, I have a tradition to take at least one photo today...to begin my year composing something just for me.

I decided to go hike into to this place that I have been curious about as a location...I'm always looking for that magic spot for me and my clients. And sadly this spot will not do. But I still loved the search, the soft colors from the late afternoon sun and the moment to be alone and think through the thoughts I listed above.

A sweet engagement session

Mark and Jess, completely at ease with me and with each other...it was obvious from the beginning. Laughing, Mark carrying Jess across the snow...oh yes, he was a regular night in shining armor with her. Romantic...yes, it gets the girls every time. But what made this session amazing for me...was the light and their ADORABLE son. Yes, I was smitten. The blue eyes, yes, his eyes were amazing. So fun for me to see Mark and Jess love on him. And I have to say I was pretty impressed with how strong he was.

Mark and Jess, you are both beautiful. Yes, I said beautiful. The kindness and love that you both showed each other and me just made me want to get to know you both better. Wishing you the best in your next chapter of life.

Gorgeous...yes, this family is gorgeous. I have been photographing this sweet family for over a year and a half and its been SO fun for me to watch this family grow. Their girls are absolutely adorable and look so much like their parents...seriously, pretty cute.

What I loved about this session...they chose to do this in their front yard. By a beautiful tree that they decorated. So sweet and very special. Oh and then Zach had a vintage tractor that he brought out. I must say it was a first for me..and I LOVED it. Yes, if the song, "she things my tractor's sexy" comes into your head don't say I didn't warn you. They are just too cool! Loved watching them laugh and love on their babies. Cold...yes, its the season for bundling up. What I love about it...brings out a lot of natural getting in close together shots...okay it might just because they are trying to get warm. ;p

Last year, I took pictures of this sweet family in their home. Christmas lights and trees...beautiful. This year, we chose to shoot at this beautiful red barn in Castle Rock. Love the texture of it, the open fields surrounding it. Its a gorgeous location. This family SO rocked the cold weather and made some beautiful photos and memories. Loved watching this family laugh and love on each other. Remington their dog...was awesome. He seemed always ready to bolt and chase some random bird.

Colorado Springs Family Photographer - A sweet downtown Colorado Springs Mini Session

The day could not have been better. It was a random heat wave for Colorado Springs...almost 70 degrees in DECEMBER. Those are my favorites. Yup, its so random and it makes me feel happy. ;p Shooting downtown...there is just a fun energy to being in a city. I love it. Love the different textures that I get to play around with. PLUS, what I loved about this session...I got to shoot with my new camera. Uh, huh...my man got me a new Nikon to add to my business. Love him and the support he provides.

But back to this sweet session...Tara and Jackson...they look SO much a like. The blue eyes and blond hair...gorgeous both of you. The clothes Jackson was wearing...A.D.O.R.A.B.L.E. And he was so all boy running around seeing if he could throw his hat on top of a building. Yes, a really, really tall one might I add. But he wanted to hold my hand and was sweet...so it was such a cool contrast. And Tara, you are beautiful and so kind. I've so enjoyed getting to know you. And watching you with your son, you are simply a great mother. :)

Colorado Springs Newborn Photographer - William, 3 days new

Beautiful. William is simply beautiful. He is my last sweet little newborn for the year and I couldn't help but want to hold on to him a little bit longer. So little and precious. His family so in love with him. It was for me just a really special and fun time for me.

You see, newborns...well, they are in particular one of my favorite subjects to photograph. Oh yes, I get this comment, "its probably SO easy because they are sleeping". Ha...the photos are after we got them to sleep. Oh yes, it takes a team...the Mom and Dad...the heater, shushing sounds, rocking or holding them...ahh...but those are the sweet and precious beautiful moments that build it all up for me. I love it all. Some babies sleep the whole time...its true. And others, you have to work on your bag of tricks and patience. But when I'm looking at their sweet photos after...I think about the parents looking at them several years later and remembering those little things...their little fingers and toes. The sweet expressions they would make. Its thinking about the parents that make me love what I do. Because those moments in my own life, the first moments of my babies...are so sweet and so priceless to me. So enjoy a few pictures from this precious boy's newborn session.

Colorado Springs Family Photographer - Christmas Mini - Liz, Logan and Charlotte

So, did I mention I like challenges? Well, I do. The first session...oh yes, there were two and I'm admitting it. The first session, took place on a snowy day, temperature sat pretty breezy at oh, 18 degrees. The kind where you breath and it freezes your insides. Not only that, it was windy. Not a good set up for a sweet almost 2 year old girl. PERFECT for a four year old though...yes, Logan LOVED the snow and I def. felt I captured his happiness. But poor Charlotte, she is shy where Logan is outgoing. So this first session, Charlotte might have cried the whole time..and in my gut I knew I was not going to sit well with leaving a session with so much unhappiness. Plus, there was the challenge...could I get sweet Charlotte to open up to me....I felt I had it in me to get that sweet smile.

So we set out a week later, in the same location and the temperature was oh about 40 degrees warmer...yes, that's Colorado for you. Just a wait a few days and the sun will be out and its tanning time. ;p I admit the start of this session started the same way...lots of tears. So I sat down, told Logan to play and I just started singing, "if your happy and you know it" all while not looking at her. But Logan and I started laughing and singing a lot....I look over and Charlotte had a big smile on her face. I can't express the feeling...I felt like I earned that gorgeous sweet smile and it made what I do, how I go into a session, it just made me LOVE what I do. The rest of the session, Charlotte was smiling and happy...which made for a very memorable session for me. This was a gift for their Dad, Jeremy, who is on leave for the next 6 months...for a total of a year. YES, a year. So it made it even MORE important to me to capture this sweet family as they are. Liz, thank you SO much for having me take these photos...it was simply an honor and one that will stay with me for a LONG time. :) Enjoy a few of their pics!

Did I mention I love Christmas? Well, if I haven't I do. I love the colors, the happiness...yes, I really feel happiness when I see homes so beautiful decorated with either store bought amazingness or homemade memories with families. Its so special to me when I get invited into someones home to capture some of that.

This family, I met them last year...and have been taking their pics ever since. Grace even made me pictures and a thank you letter (she's in kindergarten and is LOVING the ability to express herself ;p ) and Chase and Brooklyn sweet twins who are ADORABLE. Then you add Bridget and Neil, completely in love with their kiddos...its just a special session that I look forward too.

Colorado Springs Family Photographer - Rock Ledge Ranch Christmas Mini - Tony, Beth and Crew

Oh my goodness...this session was fun and it was challenging. Yes, every sweet child responds differently to me. And with a mini session we usually have to dive right into taking pictures which can be startling or tough for some kids. And Crew, I think needed that time...so a lot of the photos we were running...I mean all out sprinting to capture his sweetness. And I'm happy to say we caught it. He made Tony and Beth work for it...but they were laughing and playing right a long. Which is something I loved about them. I think it says a lot about someone how they respond to photos...yes, it sounds weird but it brings out a lot of stress.

I can relate too because we get our family photos once a year and let me just say...any amount of bribing is not beneath me or Jon to capture them smiling. So, I guess, the point in all this rambling...if you are willing to play and pretend with your babies..you just might get what you were looking for in that photo. Which is so the point of children photography I think. You need to be willing to completely make a fool of your self...which is often what I do. I can't imagine the conversation after a session...I would laugh. Anyway, enjoy this sweet families session...Loved them...Loved Crew and seriously, he is crazy cute.

LOVE this family. Yes, I've known Kate since Jr. High. Ah...the girl who stuck by me through rolled up jeans, the wave hair style, T.P. late night bandits (oh yes, we had a name for ourselves), trips around the world, scary movies, soccer tournaments...you get the idea...we are crazy close friends. ;p

Love her, love being able to call her up and know that I can still hang with my buddy any time. She's outgoing and sweet and will make you laugh like no other...and her hubby Chris is just the same. Its so fun for my family to just sit and chat and talk about whatever is on our minds. Yes, this family is important and special to my sweet family. Oh and Charlie...is ADORABLE. Yes, they taught him to laugh while slapping his knee...no joke, its just about the cutest thing you will ever see. Makes me laugh just thinking about it.

Kate is expecting a baby girl to arrive in February. And I all ready LOVE her. Sweet Emily. Can't wait to meet her and see who she becomes.

Thoughts...and a big shout out, possibly long winded letter of thankfulness to my peeps!

Can I be transparent? I've been thinking a lot about my business these past few weeks... January 1st is right around the corner...and I usually try and think deep thoughts regarding where I want my business to go, comparing last year with this year and so forth, yes deep thoughts. ;p

But I was thinking about the fear...oh, and yes, its still there. But the fear of failure in particular in the beginning. I was so passionate, I still am but I remember the drive to take every kind of photo I could. Calling up my friends and setting up sessions...shooting landscapes. I even posted info about my business on Craigslist. Yes, you read that right, I offered shoots on craigslist. And my first ever client is still with me from those days. Lets just say I got lucky...

A long the way, I had lots of different advise. "You should work for free until you have the experience" or "it probably won't turn into anything" or "are you sure you should attempt something so big "(my first wedding) yes, people said this and I'm still not sure how its advise. Protection maybe, for maybe they also fear failure. You know, for me though...it was kind of like a challenge. Yes, I'm very competitive. I wanted to prove to myself and to anyone giving me that kind of advise that I could.

But can I just say, that overall, I've had overwhelming amounts of encouragement. One of the biggest acts of encouragement from a client is a referral. Yes, when a new client calls me up and tells me they LOVED their friends photos and would love to set something up with me...it tells me I'm doing something right. Not only that, but I feel like I'm starting with a client on a familiar basis. The reason my business is where it is today is because of you. And the YOU being all of my clients, friends and family who have loved their photos and told their friends and family about it. Facebook, pictures on your wall...conversations...whatever or however it was done put me in business. I don't advertise for that reason. And that has been what is on my mind...yes, seeing clients every year come back. Makes me smile and want to hug them...because so many of them have become my friends and their friends are becoming my clients. So it kind of feels like one big happy family. Okay, so that was cheesy but its true. I feel an overwhelming sense of gratefulness to all of you. Being a small business owner and a woman, you've allowed me to make a small niche in the world. And I'm so thankful for that. Because photography brings me so much joy.

Opposing sides of advise, it made me one second full of confidence and the next full of insecurities. SO many conversations with my sounding board team...okay, so I don't really call them that. But the people I turn to, I know without a doubt are going to challenge me, love me and pick me back up and tell me to try again.

This is where my family and close friends come in...yes, I am one loved girl. I grew up in a family where my parents made us feel like rock stars. Literally, YOU CAN DO IT was a motto my parents instilled in my brain. I'm talking dreaming big dreams and putting a plan in place and it will happen. Sort of like that movie, "if you build it they will come" So makes me laugh and I have to whisper it every time I say it.

But work hard and the results will show. Because of that its also in my sisters and my brother. When I first started out, they helped set me up with a camera and the most beautiful lens ever. They believed in me and wanted to show that. The sweetest words of encouragement from each and everyone of them...and they continue to do so. I'm talking if I'm having a bad day they are on the phone in 2 seconds to figure out how to fix it. I guess its the little sister syndrome...even though I'm older than my brother too he secretly thinks of me as his little sister. ;p I can be crying, hiccuping with sobs or laughing hysterically or angry and ready to change the world and they all take it and shape it into something a little more reasonable. And my sweet precious girlfriends, my soul friend and the support and love. I take what I do pretty seriously. And without that foundation of support, the challenge to be better not just in photography but in life in general, well, I definitely would not be where I am right now without them. So sounding board...yes, I think it fits.

Encouragement and support is something you have to mentally choose to do for someone. Yes, I'm not sure it comes naturally to most. Because there is that fear of being over the top, of not having your encouragement being appreciated or just being afraid you look cheesy. Yes, I sound like I know what I'm talking about...because I do. Have those fears I mean. But the most precious moments for me are when someone took those steps to go out of their way and say sweet and strong words of support to me. I value it...cherish it and feel inclined to do that for others because of that. So this is my over the top, make you cringe letter of thankfulness. Know that I'm thinking of you, feeling super thankful for how you have effected my life. Many of you will probably say, oh its just photography. But to me, its a business...my business, its a dream to do what I do and I don't take lightly any measure of success that I've had so far.

So thank you...and I'm so hoping this season, brings you closer to your friends and family. Merry Christmas sweet friends, clients and family.

Tim and Jennipher are an amazing couple that I got to photograph last year during Christmas and then a bit later with their youngest son Ethan for newborn pictures. To see him now, almost a year old...its one of the reasons I love what I do. Love seeing the changes. And he is CRAZY cute.

What is not to love about snow, a gorgeous family and a view that is so breathtaking? Tyler, he pretty much did not feel the cold at all. Yes, he was running jumping and laughing pretty much the whole time. And sweet Bella, loved her and can't wait to get my camera on her in warmer weather. Wrapped in a blanket and being held by Jenn or Tim..she is too precious. So yes, I enjoyed myself but I was so ready to wrap myself in a sweet blanket and watch the beautiful snow from a far. ;p

I love Rock Ledge Ranch. Its so diverse. Yes, I can shoot in so many different areas and feel like I'm doing something different every time. I love the views of the mountains and in the summer the sweet pond surrounded by willow trees. Of course the barn with animals is what my children love. ;p

I met this sweet family last year and it was so fun for me to see Xander a year older...his baby blues...WOW he is HANDSOME. Of course he probably gets that from his beautiful parents. What a sweet family and I loved that I get to continue to capture them! Enjoy a few pics from this session!

Love this sweet family...yes, I do. I was able to take Kristin's maternity pictures when she was pregnant with Emerson and Sawyer...and then later their newborn pics. Each time I'm blown away with how unbelievably kind and BEAUTIFUL each of the family members are.

Copeland, their oldest daughter, is a total heart breaker...and she doesn't even know it. To get her to smile, Kristin might have mentioned a certain someone she was crushing on...TOO CUTE! Ryker, ALL boy...loved how he would completely tackle Josh and laugh while doing it. Loved him...then you add in Emerson and Sawyer with the biggest smiles you ever did see. Manitou Springs Wedding Photographer - [Kerri and John]

Kerri and John...love them. The laughter that came so easily. Their love, so apparent and beautiful for me to watch. I've known Kerri for 10 years...she is the one that makes my hair look SO fabulous. ;p A stylist at Middleton Salon. She is one of the warmest, sweetest and most genuine woman I have met. Love her. And John, seriously, you are so the perfect match for her. Loved how you were captivated with Kerri. How attentive and loving...its the little details that say so much. And your family and friends...it was so apparent to me through all the teasing, the laughing and hugs shared that you two are seriously loved by many.

This wedding took place in Manitou Springs. A beautiful and eclectic town set against the mountains. The reception, Venue 515, decked out in gorgeous lighting and splashes of red. But what took my breath away was this gorgeous First Congregational Church they got married in. Local art on the walls, high vaulted ceilings with wooden beams, classic pews and gorgeous stained glass windows. Beautiful and the perfect setting for this sweet couple.

My sister Jen, owner of kreatid, was able to fly in and shoot this sweet wedding with me. I can't tell you enough how amazing she is...the talent that she brings to each wedding we do....simply blows me away. Creatively, its a joy to work with her. There is a certain energy that happens when we shoot together. Having another photographer be able to capture different angles for a wedding is simply priceless to me and to the bride and groom.

Flying in to shoot a sweet and beautiful wedding with my sister Jen...its simply fun and precious to me. Jen is the owner of kreatid and I've had the pleasure of shooting several weddings with her in Arizona as well as having her fly in to Colorado to shoot with me.

This wedding was full of gorgeous details...the home itself, seemed to sit at the beautiful foothills of Arizona's gorgeous mountains. The home was lavished with unique antiques everywhere...it was beautiful!

What made the wedding stunning to me, was the classic and timeless feel it had to it. Strings of white sparkly lights, a string quartet playing phantom of the opera, glasses clinking, people laughing and dancing and in the middle of it all...Taylor and Travis smiling and so totally in love. Romance, yes, this was a wedding that embraced the sweet romance of this couple.

And PS Taylor and Travis...you were simply a dream to shoot. Loved your total and complete trust of me and Jen...and you are both just gorgeous.

Oh my goodness...sweet, round and absolutely adorable. Loved this sweet boy. He was my oldest newborn yet and quite possibly one of the easiest. And by easiest I mean the easiest to settle back into a deep sleep. The tricks...ah, we just had to rub his forehead, have at least three hands (me and the mom ;p ) on him and make soft shushing sounds...oh yes, and the space heater softly blowing on him had to be on at all times. Okay, so this family is awesome! Yes, they are. Mike will be deployed soon so they wanted to celebrate Christmas with him. So they decorated their home with beautiful Christmas decorations. When I walked into their house...I felt like I needed hot chocolate, Christmas music and snow. Loved that this family gave Mike a sweet memory for the holidays. Beautiful and what I think family is all about. My family might have done the same thing for me for Thanksgiving...and its the ultimate feeling of love to be so thought of.

Oh my goodness...LOVE this family. I've mentioned before that I have a thing for sweet southern accents...and this family did not disappoint. Soft southern drawl you could say. I always wanted that...

This session, so sweet and at the perfect time of day to add what is the best tool in my camera bag..the light. Natural sweet sunshine. I am always curious as to why photographer's would use flash in a beautiful natural setting where the sun just wraps around your client. As my Dad would say, different isn't better or worse...just different. psst...if you are a flash user I highly recommend giving that gorgeous sun a chance. ;p

Eliza, I was able to capture her sweet newborn photos and this sweet little girl has been a thing of beauty since day one. And I was so excited to capture her sweet 6 month pics! Such a delicate feminine looking baby...and the way she would giggle when Camille would tickle her toes or smile at Matt when he would lift her up...or even Brit, okay so she might have enjoyed pulling on her hair but that is a major sign of love. Brit would just smile and continue to make Eliza laugh. Oh, and if you notice that sweet ring on Eliza...that was Camille's ring when she was a little girl. Such a beautiful gift and ring to pass on to each generation.

But Brit, yes, she is pure gorgeous. Loved watching her...the way she would be so helpful or talk to her family. Really, that sweetness is what captivated me with her.

Kona, beautiful chocolate lab and a sweet couple. Yes, Kona made me laugh...every time I would try and take Sam and Haley's pics by themselves...she would bark as if to say um, hello, I'm not in the picture. She is so obviously their baby and it was fun for me to see a different family dynamic.

Haley and Sam...guess what?! They are high school sweethearts...the best part is Sam was crushing on Haley in Jr. High. But Haley made him wait a few years before she said yes. I love that...the fact that they found each other young and are still loving on each other now. Its that romantic in me that just thinks there is such a thing as soul mates.

Jacqualene...incredibly gorgeous and super sweet. She brought her friend Tiffany and I admit to having fun just hanging out with them. Jacqualene is completely at ease in front of a camera and laughed easily... makes for a pretty relaxed session for me.

Loved shooting in this location because fall is happening! Gorgeous fall colors and Jacqualene's choices of clothing really made her photos pop. That and she had no problem waking up early in the morning for that soft beautiful light that I love to shoot around. ;p

This is one of my all time favorite locations...the red barn. It has so many different angles and views to make each session I do there have its own unique feel to it. Especially going in different times of day. Its beautiful and has such a timeless feel to it. LOVE it. For those of you that love it as well...its in Castle Rock. Yes, not in the springs...boo to that. But well worth that drive.

Then you add in this sweet and beautiful family...loved the grey tones with pops of blue that they chose for their session. Loved how fun and playful Mark was with his kids...they obviously wrestle around a LOT with their daddy. Too cute. And Stephanie, the one they wanted to hug on or love on her...beautiful and different roles that makes such a sweet balance in a fam.

Oh my goodness...its fall! Yes, I love the colors, the change in temps...the ability to enjoy my fall wardrobe...oh, and the fact that it looks amazing to photograph. Yes, this sweet family rocked their fall session. The leaves were just hinting at changing but it was enough to have a beautiful backdrop of golden yellow and orange.

Hannah, wow, she is beautiful. Her skin is so smooth and her big blue eyes...look out Josh. Give her a few years and the boys will start coming around. And at just about 5 months she's all ready sporting an adorable jacket and dress, just made me want to pick her up and squeeze her. I so enjoy the fact that I got to hold her at just a week old and now watch her grow. Beautiful in each phase and to see her smile and laugh at her parents...precious and sweet. Josh and Leslie, completely smitten and in love with their sweet baby girl...enjoyed watching the two of them laugh and play with Hannah!

The conclusion to an apple orchard engagement session...

An apple orchard, a sweet sunset and a happy in love couple...who just so happens to be BEAUTIFUL...makes for an unbelievable session. Then you throw in the sentiment...the emotion for me to be able to capture it...ah, makes it one of my favorites.

I might have been paying more attention to watching how Kevin was with Sarah. You could say I'm touch protective with my friends. And I might have grilled him a bit on the drive over. Yes, this could have happend. The good news is Kevin, really is an awesome man, who so loves Sarah. And he def. passed the friend test. ;p

In watching Sarah, there was happiness and sense of peace with Kevin. This is where I knew, yes, knew he was the perfect man for her. The way they look at each other...sweet love. That's how I would describe them. You two are beautiful in the way you interact...trust and just enjoy the moments.

So looking forward to working with kreatid to create some beautiful and unique moments for this wedding, this couple. Not just because they are ridiculously easy to look at but because of how much I love them. How important they are to me and my family.

Sweet Brody. An amazing relaxed little boy with an absolute angelic little face. He was awake for the first hour but so relaxed. I couldn't stop looking at him. And yes, he might be my nephew but I think he is beautiful.

This family, is absolutely precious to me. Kris and Mike...I met them about 10 years ago, we invited them over to dinner and I showed her my massive wedding book. Yes, first time meeting them and I'm like here look at my wedding book. Pretty cool of me. ;p But then, we got invited to their wedding and from there became Friday night date nights with K and M. Kris can make me laugh till tears stream down my face...and then when she's with her hubby...its non stop laughter. They are extremely witty and charming people to be around. But not only are they our family's close friends because of their happiness...but they are there for us through the hard moments. The challenging and difficult moments of life. They dig in and help no questions asked, no judgements made...just simply beautiful to me because of there value on life and their value on friendship.

Oh, but to talk about their babies...Hayley and Piper. I just smile and want to squeeze them every time I see them. Beautiful and sweet Hayley...love her sense of humor and her charming and sweet personality. My kiddos ADORE her. Piper, she just makes me laugh. Her big toothless grin, her eyes that completely sparkle when Kris looks at her. Or her laugh when Mike throws her up in the air...

Soft morning light...so beautiful. Light is something I particularly look for in my sessions. I am always paying attention to how it looks on my clients. And its usually the first thing that I set up as far as timing for each client. And for this sweet family, I really felt it created that sweet and soft look that I love to use.

But in particular, I loved the way the two boys, Ethan and Ben made this session into an adventure. Running, exploring...climbing at one point. And the reactions from their parents...perfect. Loved how laid back they were and how their happiness was so contagious. This session was beautiful to me because of this sweet family. I enjoyed laughing and working with them! New York Wedding Photographer - Blake & Heather - August 27, 2011

Sense of adventure...yes, you could say that was the overall feeling for me on this wedding. Traveling across the country, and then knowing that a very HUGE hurricane was going to be hitting during this beautiful event...made for some interesting moments. I remember driving into the city with my sister in law Tami and being amazed at no one being on the highway...but of course everyone was leaving. Signs saying mandatory evacuation...UNHEARD of for New York City. Crazy.

I also need to just say...I like the vibe of New Yorker...a bit tough and cool, yes, I said this. But for all that tough exterior it seemed to me that they laughed hard, loved and kissed with the best of them and made me feel like an extended part of their family. All with the coolest accents too. Yes, I might have fallen more in love with New York after this because of the people I met.

Apart from hurricane Irene...this wedding, the marriage of Blake and Heather...so beautiful. Loved their care free attitudes, their happiness that was not dimmed by huge amounts of rain. And actually, it seemed to be an experience that made their wedding that much more special, more unique and beautiful to me because of it. As a photographer, capturing romantic moments in the rain...well, that just makes me smile and wish I had crazy rain on my own day. Beautiful and gorgeous bride and groom...laughing and enjoying their time with friends and loved ones. Getting to work with my super talented sister in law Tami (click on her name to see her beautiful work) was fun and special for me.

Colorado Springs Family Photographer - Garden of The Gods

I sat and just gazed at Garden of the Gods...I had a few moments before this family would show up for their session. Seriously, made me smile and think how blessed I am as a photographer. Love being able to capture beautiful moments, laughter and tears (happiness most of the time). But I also feel blessed to live where I do. Colorado is absolutely breathtaking. And so unique...

Jackie had called me from Washington and wanted to get a family session set up. For more reasons than one...but in particular, she wanted pictures with Hannah. The newest addition to this extended family. Watching this family interact and love on sweet Hannah...made me smile for her. She has people that will love her and care for her...and watch out for her all over the world. So sweet and so powerful that connection. It made me think that no matter how crazy you think your family is...there is usually that feeling of connection. That strength of knowing that when times are tough you have people who will help you and love you enough to be there. Loved that this family laughed and loved on each other through out this whole session!

Colorado Springs Family Photographer - The sweet Bennett fam!

First off...love this fam. Yes, I've done a few other sessions with them and each time I leave with a smile on my face. They are laid back and simply laugh a lot. A couple of my favorite things. ;p But what was sad about this session, Jeremy got a job in California. So this might be my last photo shoot with them in CO. I say might because I might actually have to go to California and do a beach session....for sure that will have to be in the works. Also a sad day for me because Savannah was my local seamstress. Yes, she makes BEAUTIFUL and funky clothes for children. I just might be having her make a newborn blanket for me right now. Yes, that might be happening. :)

What a beautiful place for us to shoot though! Right next to the beautiful and so unique Garden of the Gods. Loved the open space feeling and the texture of this really cool and funky old bridge. Then Miss Bristol with her big brown eyes and curly hair and her BRIGHT and beautiful clothes...loved everything about her. Eldon and his gorgeous smile and blue eyes. The way Jeremy and Savannah would look at each other laughing at me...yes, this happens a lot. But I'm laughing too so it all works. Family, my nephews and grand adventures...

Let me just start this post by saying I love my family. I mean, I deeply love them. Yes, I said that. ;p I have two older sisters and a younger brother. Each of us are married and hopefully soon my bro and sister in law will be adding to the mix of fun kids...oh yes, I said that too.

We are a pretty tight family and each of us I feel would do just about anything for each other or our kids. The sad part for me is that all of my family lives in AZ...so I get to see them...just not as often as I would like. So when Kate said, I'm coming to Colorado I WAS SOOOOOO happy.

Loved the quality time I got to spend with her and the boys...that's what I call them...Aydan and Rylan. Hiking, parks, penny arcades, the Manitou Incline (SUPER FUN!) and treasure maps that my nephew made for the younger kids. Yes, he is SUPER creative like that...actually had a little map with X marks the spot. Their big brown eyes are hard for me to resist...yes, super sweet and high energy loved being around them. Kenzie and Rylan...she calls him one of her best friends. And watching the two of them attempt to collect bugs or play some random game of pretend cats and dogs...I can see that bond and I hope that its still there years from now.

Its that part, the part of being a family that I love. That I'm close with my sister, that my babies are close with her babies...it makes me smile and love being part of such a unit. Even miles away. Love you Kate...love your family and can't wait to see you in October! :)

Oh my goodness...sweet Brynlee. She is absolutely A.D.O.R.A.B.L.E. Yes, I fell in love with her the minute she looked at me with her sweet blue eyes. She would laugh and run around...so curious about life.

And she is absolutely in love with her Daddy. Always had to have Shawn in sight or would show him every little thing she found. And Breanne...you are beautiful. You and your little mini you Brynlee. Such a fun and laid back family.

Monument High School Senior Photographer - Austin - Class of 2012

Pretty much love working with high school seniors. Yes, I do. Because of the confidence...the natural ability to just trust me. Not too jaded yet in life you could say. And I love their enthusiasm.

Austin, completely blew me away with his maturity, his humor and his ability to just be in the moment. Usually a hard concept for most. Loved getting to know him!

So, Judy called me one day and asked if I would be willing to do a session with puppies. She breeds Labs...and I couldn't help but thinking that this would be fun for me! And it was. But we def. had to work hard for it. ;p

It was so hard not to accidentally walk away with one. Loved them and their sweet little playfulness and that the next second they would be sleeping away. So sweet.

What I loved watching in particular is Judy's relationship with her oldest dog. Such a sweet and trusting relationship...truly a bond that was beautiful for me to observe. Simply love Judy and her excitement for life...Thank you SO much for having me take a few pics of your babies!

Oh my goodness...these sweet kiddo's are ADORABLE. Could not get enough of Evy's brown curls or Ethan's big blue eyes. Denver Newborn Photographer - Lily - 12 Days new

Oh my goodness...this sweet little girl is absolutely beautiful. And she would TOTALLY smile at me all the time. Yes, I was shocked. The first picture I took of her is with her smiling at me. What a cutie. And her parents, first time, parents even...were so laid back and oh so proud of their baby girl. So fun for me to observe.

This session we took our time and just enjoyed being around the sweetness of a newborn. Did I mention that at one point I was rocking her back to sleep and I tried to hand her off to her mom...Lily would wake up instantly because she new it was her mom. So then I got to rock her back to sleep again...seriously, not tough for me at all to hold a sweet little newborn. Absolutely precious and sweet for me to capture them. So this was a crazy stormy night. Yes, lightening and thunder...everywhere. But it held off for just a little bit for us. All we had to do is stand in the rain. ;p Which, actually they didn't mind at all. We did this session in Adam's parents backyard...yes, this beautiful location is my clients. A creek, beautiful landscaping, flowers and a huge forest. Then you add, Alyssa. Stunning. Yes, that is how I would describe her. Perhaps, what made this family so fun for me...was there ability to just laugh, relax and just enjoy some time with a crazy photographer snapping photos in the rain. ;p

McKenzie...the youngest newborn I've gotten to photograph. She is SO beautiful...delicate, soft and precious. July 16, 2011 can be wrapped up as an amazing event. I still think about the drive over there that early afternoon. Jen and I (she is the photographer and owner of kreatid) were blasting the song Every Teardrop is a Waterfall . Singing as loud as we could...and I just felt happiness and joy at being able to capture Mike and Laura's sweet and special day. I felt blessed, oh so blessed to be able to capture that with my sister. So Jen, this is me saying thank you for making that day for me a day to treasure. You are simply an amazing friend and partner.

Mike and Laura, laughter, joy, romance, happiness, affection...thoughts that race through my mind as I think of ways to describe you. Laura, you are stunning. Loved in particular the way you enjoyed your day. Yes, the way Mike would make you laugh. Your laughter was so infectious. And Mike, you are handsome. Yes, you are. Loved the way you would look at Laura...your affection for her was so apparent to me and to everyone around you. Both of you went out of your way to make my sister and me feel like such a part of your friends and family. And your friends and family...wow, LOVED them. Dancing, laughing, asking us if we needed anything....and all the attention to detail for your day...you are both surrounded by an amazing group of people that love you.

My favorite moment of the two of you...that first moment. Loved that you chose to meet each other before. I got to be with Mike just minutes before Laura arrived...just observing Mike. It made me tear up...because of that excitement, that raw emotion shown on his face. Laura...this man LOVES you. Cherishes you...so beautiful for me to see. And when Mike turned around and saw you...your expression...happiness because you knew it. And happiness, because you felt the same. You guys are absolutely beautiful and I feel so privileged to have met you.

Colorado Springs Family Photographer - Soft Sunlight and a sweet family

Such a beautiful family...not just because they are pretty on the outside. But because of the way the interact with each other and with me. Kindness, love, laughter...I associate those characters with this family. This is the third time I've been able to photograph them. And I feel blessed for having met them. Mike, is in the military and was home for two weeks (after having been gone for a year!!!). He took his family to Disney land...loved on them and then allowed me to capture them. Yes, and he did really well might I add. ;p He left again and will return in December.

I look at this family...Kari and her sweet girls...and they are rocking the military life. I mean, strength, Independence and love for our country is given each and every time they smile and say its what we do. Its how we live. I admire them. I admire their ability to be such a strong family unit with all their sacrifices they make. So this is me saying THANK you for being a family I can look up to. Thank you for your dedication and loyalty to our country. You guys rock in SO many ways.

I have so enjoyed the last few sessions downtown. There is a certain energy and beauty that can be found just walking around and watching people. Or the beautiful and creative store fronts the store owners put into their business. Downtown Colorado Springs reminds me of my home town...small enough to not get lost in but big enough to feel like its a city..if that makes sense... ;p

When Carrie first got out of the car (Vince dropped them off to go find a parking spot...just from that I knew I was going to love this family) I thought...wow she is BEAUTIFUL! Than her son, came running around the corner with his blond, curly hair and big blue eyes...lets just say, my heart might have melted a bit. He is just as sweet as he is handsome. Loved watching him laugh and snuggle with his parents. Vince and Carrie, beautiful, kind and funny...thank you so much for having me take your photos! I so enjoyed it!

Beautiful, happy and charming. This is how I would describe these two. I had so much fun talking and hanging out with them. Love that they are so close...mother and daughter. Such a special relationship and watching them made me miss my own Mom.

They wanted to surprise the men in their life...with some new updated, non-glamor shot (Brit's words...and they so made me laugh) type photos. You know...back in the 90's with the super crazy big hair...mega makeup and cheesy backdrops. And yes, I just might have sported my own glamor shots back in the day.

So I took them to a bridge just outside of Garden of the Gods. Beautiful and natural and Brit and Sue were completely comfortable with me. And can I just say...both of you are STUNNING. Seriously, beautiful and warm towards me. Thank you so much for choosing me to capture your photos!
