Sun flare - I heart faces -

So...I'm thinking many of you all ready know...that I simply love the sun.  And no, not just because it makes me look better. ;p  But because of how it makes my clients look.  I especially LOVE the soft golden colors and the halo effect around their hair.  Which is a number one reason I schedule sessions close to sunset. 
But the sun, can add some serious beautiful emotion to a picture.  Makes you want to dive right into that photo and feel it.  Well, it does for me.  ;p  This sweet picture...a little girl, playing in her own little world.  Was unaware of really anything but her imagination.   BUT this shot, with the sun, the mountains and that sweet beautiful light will probably go down as one of my favorites.

anything but a face...I Heart faces!

This weeks challenge...a photo that does not have a face in it.  I LOVE that.  Why...because I am absolutely a hands girl.  Yes, that's a weird thing to say...but I love taking pictures of hands.  Especially my babies.  They express so much love, what type of person you are...and even your age.  And I love it.  This photo I chose...my son who is two years younger than my daughter and it looks like he dwarfs her.  But what I also love...its a beautiful contrast of boy and girl.

Dramatic B & W...

So this weeks challenge over at I Heart Faces...a dramatic black and white photo...does the picture make you stop and think, are you  drawn in to the world of the photograph, do wonder what they are thinking about in the picture, do you wonder what in the world was the photographer thinking....oh the challenge of the photographer.  To be that artist that finds that something...for me, finding that something or creating through editing...well thats all part of the fun games of photography. 
This week, I chose a moment I captured with my daughter.  A moment where she was still and playing off in a world that she had created that involved princesses, magical horses and a castle.  For me this is a dramatic picture because I remember that still moment...I remember the way she looked.  And I remember how much I loved her in that moment...so dramatic for me yes. ;p  Enjoy my sweet still moment with Mackenzie...

Grubby, little, tiny hands...

Exploring...grubby...little....excitement....a few things that I love about this picture.  It reminds me of some magical story that has little elves and fairies.  I think its the moss and the innocence of my little girls hands that made me think of that.  The time spent that day...priceless.  A beautiful little hike that I went on with my hubby and two kids.  Fall in New York...so amazing.  Canopy's of beautiful fall leaves, dark green moss growing on the bark, the crunch of the leaves beneath our feet...thats part of the reason I love this picture.  It brings back the memories of that special day.

kiss, kiss, kiss...

February...love...kissing...family....sigh.  I love it.  I really do.  Over at I heart faces there is a theme...can you guess it?   Yup, kissing...any kind of kiss is what they are looking for. While  I would love to show the heart stopping kisses my hubby gives me, I decided to go for my daughter kissing her brother.  A very rare and awesome moment to catch as a mom when you do.  It just so happens I also caught it on my camera.  Love when that happens...anyway, enjoy the sweet and rare moments of love between a brother and sister...ALSO, there are some other amazing photographers over at I heart faces...click here to check them out too...

places I love...

Well, it just so happens that I live in a state, (Colorado), thats beautiful.  Mountains, my husband and I love them.  We love to hike around on them, gaze at them (we have a pretty awesome view from our house) or in my husbands case, he wants to hike all 14 of them in Colorado.  Crazy but cool.  This summer I'm excited because my kids will finally be old enough to take camping to enjoy these beautiful mountians.  So here are a few pics of places I love...some of them were taken in Denver (guess which one :) and the one with the beautiful tree, taken in Ramah, CO.  Enjoy to view other beautiful places that others have seen click on :

Girlfriends...

So, I called a couple of my girlfirends this past week to see if they would be in for a photo shoot...to help me win a contest.  :)  I heart faces is giving out an awesome lense to the winner...and well, you can't win unless you try...
Before I go into a shoot, I try and think about what I want to reveal.  What I want people to feel.  For me, I wanted to show the ease in a relationship.  I wanted the laughter, the fun and the closeness that these women feel towards eachother to be demonstrated.  What I wanted to convey to eveyone looking at these photos is that women are important.  Your relationship to them.  Whether that relationship is with your mom, sisters, daughters or friends who have become family...I wanted you to think about them.  Girlfriends in my life...I've had a lot of seasons of them...and I can remember each of them in my life and how they helped me.  I've held secrets, laughed, cried, shared losses, shared heartbreaks, done crazy things with (I won't mention them...but I'm sure you know what I'm talking about) defended them, fought for them...basically, I love that relationship.  My girls...and just so it is noted...these women that are shown in these pictures are very important to me...but I also have other friends/family that could not be available for these photos...and you are also important to me. I thought of you during this shoot.
Okay, now to the competition part...which one is your fav...I'd love to hear...I will post the pic that wins the most votes for the competition!

Texture - I ♥ faces

So, I am part of a photographer's forum called I ♥ faces and they do photo challenges!  And if anyone knows me they know I LOVE challenges.  I almost didn't contribute because I was thinking I don't have photoshop...but what I do have is a shot of some awesome texture that artists created using twigs.  Crazy amount of creativity went into these little tree forts.  And of course my kids loved running through the trees...anyway, enjoy a different look at texture!
